From install to first film
A step-by-step walkthrough of the Color Sep Pro workflow — from opening your artwork to printing a film-ready separation.
Table of Contents
1. Install & activate
- 1
After purchasing a plan, download the installer from your Account dashboard.
- 2
Run the installer and launch Color Sep Pro.
- 3
Sign in with your account — your license activates on this device automatically.
- 4
A connection is needed once to validate the license; separation itself runs offline.
2. Open your artwork
- 1
Click "Open" or drag and drop a file onto the window.
- 2
Supported formats: PNG, JPG, TIFF, SVG and PDF.
- 3
For raster art, use 300 DPI or higher for the cleanest results.
- 4
Recent files appear on the home screen for quick access.
3. Choose a process
- 1
Pick Spot Color, CMYK, Monotone or Vector from the process picker.
- 2
Color Sep Pro only enables the modes that fit your file type and your plan.
- 3
SVG and vector PDFs go to the Vector workflow; raster files can use Spot, CMYK or Monotone.
- 4
A live progress bar tracks the job — you can cancel at any time.
4. Spot color separation
- 1
The app auto-detects colors and lists each one as its own layer.
- 2
Review the proof preview to see how the channels composite on your garment color.
- 3
Toggle the dedicated black layer and white underbase as needed.
- 4
Merge similar layers, then refine to the exact channel count you want to print.
5. CMYK & monotone halftones
- 1
CMYK builds cyan, magenta, yellow and black plates with moiré-safe screen angles.
- 2
Monotone produces a single-color screen — choose its angle and positive/negative output.
- 3
Set your line count (LPI) to match your mesh; the app handles dot gain via gamma.
- 4
Supply source and destination ICC profiles for a fully color-managed CMYK workflow.
6. Vector & flat artwork
- 1
Vector mode separates SVG, vector PDF and flat raster logos by color.
- 2
The preflight grader scores how print-ready the file is before you separate.
- 3
Color Sep Pro renders one clean layer per color, ready for film.
- 4
Use it for crisp, edge-defined artwork where halftones aren't needed.
7. Registration, film & export
- 1
Add registration marks on export or print so every screen lines up on press.
- 2
Set the print size — A4, A3, A3+ or a custom size — with accurate scaling.
- 3
Export press-ready PDF, TIFF or PNG (SVG for vector jobs).
- 4
Or send film positives straight to your printer from within the app.
8. Preferences & updates
- 1
Open Preferences to set defaults for LPI, CMYK screen angles and print size.
- 2
These defaults are reused every time you start a new separation.
- 3
Built-in updates keep your engine current while your license is active.
- 4
Manage your license and device activation from your account dashboard.
